Why does the temperature drop near wooded areas at night?

When I'm driving with the windows down and reach a more rural stretch of road surrounded by woods I notice a significant temp drop. The terrain is south Florida so there are no hills to factor in and it doesn't seem to be related to a nearby body of water. As soon as a get near a developed area the temp goes back up.
