Joining Army, but Vandalism charge?

Hi, thanks for your time. Me and my friend basically spray painted this house in Michigan. It's called Malicious Destruction of Property, but it's vandalism. So I was trying to join the army but it's still under investigation. I already confessed to the police and that was last Oct. It's still under investigation so I can't join the army. My friend hasn't confessed. I haven't been charged with anything yet. The family said they weren't going to press charges, but the police are still investigating. Do you guys think the prosecutors will grant liency since I confessed, it's my first time offense and I want to join the army?
